Hello! I'm Matthew Zimmer...

My passion lies in sport broadcasting, specifically in radio. I love the rush of live sports and providing play-by-play as well as the interviewing of guests and asking tough questions in a talk show or press conference setting. I've done work in print, but it was not the right fit for me, and truthfully neither is television. I like describing the visuals to an audience and being the conduit for their experience.

The last stop for my journey, so far, was home in Portland, OR at Alpha Media USA. My main responsibilities held with the sports station KXTG 750 The Game, but I was also called upon many times to other areas. I was hired as an Update Anchor and fill-in host; however, three months after hiring, the company changed job responsibilities for all the "part-time" sports update anchors. The fill-in host "option" was essentially taken away and only afforded to the full-timers. As an Update Anchor, I provided sports updates specific to our local audience during the Dan Patrick show, as well as CBS National Broadcasts and the lone local sports show, The Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano. I was also one of the Content Creators for the sports station. Primarily, I wrote stories for the website (750thegame.com) and then posted to our main social media pages (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram). On top of sports, I was asked several times to take on Production duties including voice over, editing and client recordings when our Production Director was out of town. I also did recorded sports updates for our news station, FM News 101 KXL.

Before heading home to Portland, I worked at Inland Northwest Broadcasting as co-host of Local Sports Talk on 1400 The Palouse's ESPN, and the official play-by-play broadcaster for Colfax Athletics, including football, basketball (both boy's & girls), and baseball. I also served as the main play-by-play voice for the American Legion baseball teams in the Pullman area, including the Pullman Posse and the Whitman County Cougars. Finally, I provided play-by-play for Colfax and other nearby schools during the Washington state high school basketball tournaments.

Previously, I worked at KQQQ Pullman Radio for a year as the main News Reporter. I covered all news on the Palouse from city council meetings, GOP conventions, and school board to fires, breaking news, and court hearings. I wrote, voiced and posted stories for the station on www.pullmanradio.com.

I served several roles during college at the Washington State University student radio station, KUGR. I got my start in the sports department, as a talk show host and play-by-play announcer for four years. The talk show is where I developed my voice and on air presence. Elsewhere in sports, I performed play-by-play on-air for men’s basketball, baseball and football. I led the station the tail end of my junior year and all of my senior year as the General Manager. For all of my responsibilities as GM, you can check out my Work Experience Page under the Resume tab.

Before college, I earned my Eagle Scout Award with Troop 208 in Portland, OR. My project consisted of planning and building a lean-to shed. I led boys in the troop in helping me build the shed. My Eagle award is my proudest achievement alongside graduating from Washington State University.
