TV Packages
These are a few of the pieces I prepared while at WSU during my time in ComJour 335 & ComJour 390. See Coursework for more details.
ComJour 335: Marijuana in Pullman
I learned the difficulty of a deadline with this project. Sources weren’t responding for my initial story, so I had to change to this topic. I was able to meet my deadline in a quick time because of my skills with Adobe Premiere and my sources meeting my needs to complete the package. The value showed me that I am cut out for this business even if at times it seemed too difficult.
ComJour 335: Pullman Four Square Church
This was one of my favorite pieces to create. I talked to the pastor at Pullman Four Square Church about being inside an old movie theater. It was a great experience. I learned about the work that goes into getting lots of B-Roll for a package where I could only get one person to interview.
It was a fun package and a great subject to profile.
ComJour 390: Bowling Documentary
I’m traditionally a news or sports guy, but I really enjoyed doing some documentary work as well. I learned to let my subject tell the story without needing my voice over. It was tough, I learned to ask the right questions and re-word the question if I needed so I could get a better answer out of my subject. I did my best not to lead my subjects to certain answers and let them tell the story the way they want it told.
This experience was valuable because it helps round out my skills of creating video. I can do news pieces and documentaries. I still need some work shooting sports, but with a passion for sports, that won’t be difficult.
